Want to start your own creator business? Don’t overlook these 10 key steps while you’re still working full-time.
Asking others for help will save you money, time, and frustration.
I spent $1,250 for a 1 hour coaching session w/ Justin Welsh a while back.
We discussed personal branding on LinkedIn.
Here are my top 10 takeaways:
- Be patient! Building a tribe takes time.
- Keep offering insane, free value before selling.
- Triple down on a single place to be found (like LinkedIn).
- Consider where your time is best spent (i.e video or writing).
- Stay specialized with your message so it resonates w/ your tribe.
- Be polarizing. Who is your enemy (i.e. for me it’s Hustle Culture)?
- Focus less on # of followers & more on engagement w/ target audience.
- Tell your audience why it’s in their best interest to engage with your content.
- Team up with a synergy buddy daily to boost engagement on each other’s content.
- There is value in creating your own sub community (i.e. Circle, Slack, Discord) — just keep it simple & flexible! (community moderation can be a time drain!)
I started getting serious about posting content on LinkedIn in April of 2021, sharing free value with the intention of monetizing my knowledge within a year. I launched my first product to lots anticipation on March 7, 2022.
Bonus tip: Write to the person you were 3 years ago.
Growth results since April 15, 2021:
- Went from 6,709 → 31,139 followers
- Garnered 7,676,868 post views
- Received 70,491 post likes
