Professional Soccer. DJed for Rihanna. Made a Million Dollars a Year in Sales. Retired Early. Here’s The System I Used.
Here’s a confession…I’ve been ordinary throughout my entire career, but I was able to achieve some extraordinary experiences.
The key was applying specific approaches at specific times. But it wasn’t until I brought them all together in a systemized way that I could achieve breakthrough success and deep personal satisfaction.
Here are the phases.
Discipline phase ⚽️
At 20, I tried to win a contract as a professional soccer player in Eastern Europe.
I honestly had no right to be with a first division club, but somehow I got myself there. I was a decent player growing up, but I was never great. Never #1 on good teams, in the state, and forget the nation. Same in college. I barely played my first two seasons. But it was shear discipline that got me the opportunity with a pro team.
Flexibility phase 🎧
After some injury struggles and landing in NYC, I eventually pursued another venture because I was open to new opportunities.
I got into DJing after a friend recommended it. Was I good enough to be a full-time professional DJ? Hell no. But somehow, I got myself in a position to be the opening act for Rihanna for one gig (remember her “Pon De Replay” days?). I even made an appearance in a book about DJing, called “On The Record.” What the f*ck?
Curiosity phase 📈
Next up was trying my luck in sales after moving from NYC to Florida and being curious about finding a way to achieve a steady income.
It was hard at first and I struggled, but eventually (after several years of climbing the ranks) I found my niche in strategic SaaS sales where I sold digital transformations to Fortune 100 companies. It helped me earn 7 figures a year for 3 years in a row before I felt comfortable retiring from the corporate world at age 42.
Alchemy phase⭐️
Today, I am a full-time online creator who uses writing as a medium to share my thoughts and monetize my knowledge.
The biggest accelerant to finding this career utopia was harmonizing all 3 phases and implementing them into each work day. This allows me to start with discipline, ensuring I ship out my writing before I give my TEA (time, energy, and attention) to others. I then shift to flexibility where I purposely seek out ways to connect with others and discover new opportunities. I then end each day looking back with curiosity so I can understand where I need to double down and identify what needs to improve for tomorrow.
